Terms of Service

Welcome to Tabiji Academy, operated by Tabiji Academy Inc. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Services

Tabiji Academy provides premium online Japanese language instruction services. All lessons are conducted remotely via video conferencing. We offer individual one-on-one lessons, lesson packages, and a first lesson for new students.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use our services. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using our services, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Account and Booking

• You are responsible for providing accurate information when booking lessons or creating an account.
• Lesson bookings are subject to instructor availability.
• You are responsible for ensuring you have a stable internet connection and a suitable environment for online lessons.

4. Payment

• All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). If you pay with a card issued outside Canada, your card issuer converts the charge to your currency and may add its own foreign-transaction fee.
• Lessons and lesson packages are paid in full at the time of booking.
• Each lesson package is valid for the period shown when you purchase it (for example, 6 months for the 5-Lesson Journey and 12 months for the 10-Lesson Journey). Lessons not booked by the end of that period expire.
• The price you pay is the price shown in the booking panel at checkout. Prices may change, but a change never affects a lesson or package you have already paid for.
• Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

5. Cancellation and Rescheduling

• You may reschedule or cancel a lesson at no charge up to 24 hours before its start time.
• Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be counted as a completed lesson.
• No-shows (failure to attend without notice) will be counted as a completed lesson.
• If an instructor needs to cancel, the lesson will be rescheduled at a time convenient for the student at no cost.

6. Refunds

First Lesson Guarantee: your first lesson costs $55 CAD. If it isn't right for you, email us within 48 hours after the lesson and we will refund the full $55 CAD — no reason needed. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5–10 business days.

The guarantee does not apply to a first lesson ended under section 8 (Respectful conduct).

• Lesson packages may be refunded within 7 days of purchase for unused lessons only, less a $25 CAD administrative fee.
• After 7 days, packages are not refundable, but unused lessons stay available to book until the package's validity period ends.
• Refund requests should be sent to team@tabijiacademy.com.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, lesson materials, and design — is the property of Tabiji Academy and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without our written permission.

8. Acceptable Use

When using our services, you agree not to:

• Record lessons without the instructor's explicit consent
• Share lesson materials or recordings with third parties
• Engage in abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behavior toward instructors or staff
• Use our website or services for any unlawful purpose

Respectful conduct. Lessons are for learning Japanese. During lessons, bookings and messages you must not:

• make sexual, romantic or suggestive comments or requests;
• comment on the instructor's appearance, body, ethnicity or personal life;
• ask for the instructor's personal contact details or social media, or to meet outside the lesson;
• appear on camera inappropriately dressed or in an inappropriate setting;
• use the lesson or booking notes for anything other than language learning.

The instructor may end a lesson immediately if any of these happen, and we may cancel any future bookings.

9. Limitation of Liability

Tabiji Academy provides instruction services on an "as is" basis. We make no guarantees regarding specific learning outcomes or language proficiency levels. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tabiji Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services.

10. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to our services at any time if you break these Terms. If we end your access because of a breach of the Respectful conduct rules in section 8, any lesson ended early counts as completed, and we will refund any unused lessons in a package, less the $25 CAD administrative fee.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our services shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
