How the preparation works
Strategy built around your exam date.
Diagnostic first lesson
Mie assesses exactly where you are relative to your target level — vocabulary gaps, grammar weaknesses, reading speed, and listening comprehension. This becomes the architecture of your preparation plan.
Language-first, exam-second
The JLPT tests real Japanese ability. Mie builds the foundation — fluency, vocabulary, grammar — and layers in exam strategy (time management, question types, educated guessing) as the exam approaches.
Section-by-section strategy
Language Knowledge (vocabulary + grammar), Reading, and Listening each have their own demands and techniques. Mie prepares you for all three — with extra time on the section that will matter most for your score.
Exam simulation & debrief
In the weeks before the exam, Mie runs full section simulations against real past papers. You get a detailed debrief on every mistake — why it happened and how to avoid it under exam conditions.
Realistic timelines
How long does it actually take?
These are honest estimates. Individual progress varies, and the right answer depends on your starting point and study time outside of lessons.
6–12 months. Where most Tabiji students begin their exam journey. A strong intermediate foundation, and the turning point to real professional use.
6–12 months with solid N3. The most sought-after career milestone. N2 is recognised across most Japanese workplaces and graduate programmes.
12–24 months. The highest standard. N1 demonstrates near-native mastery and opens doors to top-tier roles in Japan and international organisations.
